Tagged

I was tagged by angela for a book meme. Here are the rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people and post a comment to angela once you've posted your 3 sentences.

Now, I have to admit that I never send on chain letters, by snail mail or internet (and I’ve never been attacked by zombies or lost all my money or been boiled in boiling oil). But I do sometimes play a chain game, just for the person who sent it to me. So, Angela, I’ll follow the rules, except the part about tagging others. I know, I’m a killjoy, but I probably don’t know five bloggers who haven’t already been tagged anyway!

The nearest book is ‘King of the Murgos’ by David Eddings. Well, I am in my husband’s office, so there was a pretty good chance it would be something like that. Here’s the three sentences:

“After their simple breakfast, the tawny-haired Dryad led them into the ancient Wood. Belgarath, leading his horse walked beside her, and the two of them seemed in deep conversation of some kind. Garion noticed that his grandfather furtively reached into his pocket from time to time and offered something to the slim Dryad – something she greedily snatched and popped into her mouth.”

I’ve not read this one (the second book of ‘The Malloreon’), but already I feel better about those who keep telling me the names in my fantasy are too weird (the sentence before this had someone called Xbel speaking)and that I use too many ‘ly’ words.

Sorry for being a killjoy, Angela.

LOL, no worries Kate! Chain letters go against the grain for me too (once my MIL sent me one where I was supposed to send out 5 pairs of panties and get 36 back--YIKES!) but in the spirit of blogging, I joined the book revelry.
