It’s a whole week since my last post (that sounds like Confession!) and I just can’t come up with anything to write about. It’s a general malaise. I’ve hardly worked on any of my writing all week. In fact I’ve not been able to concentrate on much at all. My stories just don’t seem to make sense any more, the new website I’m supposed to be designing is going nowhere fast and at work, I’ve skipped from one task to another. I’ll still get there in the end, but it really feels like you’re not achieving when you can’t stick at something.

It’s nearly the end of the school term, so maybe that’s what it is – I need that two week break as much as my kids. Or maybe it’s the fact that it has been so cold these past few weeks (that’s Australian-style cold, not centrally heated European or American cold – we’re just not equipped to cope.)

Any suggestions for jump-starting a tired, frozen brain?

I'm in the same boat. I think it's just the rush of everything happening at once--the kids are out of school, summer is here, holidays need to be planned, the garden tended to, relatives visiting, etc, etc.

Take a bubble bath and read a book. Give yourself permission to not write, rather than feeling bad for not writing.

Thanks, Angela. That bubble bath certainly sounds like a good idea!

The boat is crowded, although recently I started writing again, with baby steps.

Like Angela, i would stress not feeling guilty about not writing. Fretting and feeling guilt never helped anyone, except for shrinks.

At least I'm in good company!
