I ordered another CD the other day. Yes, another one. It’s becoming a real vice. Up till now most of my orders have been from places like Amazon, but this one was from CD Baby, a very small company in the States that specialises in independent artists. Somehow lately, I seem to like mostly musicians who don’t produce a whole lot of CDs and what they do produce aren’t easy to get (Andre being the obvious exception).
Having ordered from Amazon, I’m used to the computer generated shipping notice. You know the kind – item number, shipping date, addressee etc etc. But my notice from this place gave me a good laugh, so I thought I’d share it with you. I don’t think they’ll mind. Someone has obviously put a lot of imagination into this, so it’s a shame not to share it…
Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.
A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure it was in the best possible condition before mailing.
Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that money can buy.We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, August 6, 2009.
We hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. In commemoration, we have placed your picture on our wall as "Customer of the Year." We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Sigh...
We miss you already. We'll be right here at http://cdbaby.com/, patiently awaiting your return.
Of course, I haven’t received the CD yet. CDs from the US seem to take forever. But I look forward to it. No, I’m not really expecting to find it packed in a gold-lined box, but it is nice to know it was despatched with such good humour. I hope they don't object to me quoting them so thoroughly. (Dear CD Baby, if you do, please tell me and I'll remove this post immediately.)

I've ordered from CD Baby and few times and they've always been awesome. :)
That's good to know, Rena. Thanks.
